What is metal casting?

Metal casting is a process in which metal is smelted into a liquid that meets certain requirements and poured into a mold. After cooling, solidification, and cleaning, a casting with a predetermined shape, size and performance is obtained. Because the casting blank is almost formed, the purpose of free machining or a small amount of processing reduces the cost and reduces the time to a certain extent. Metal casting is one of the basic processes of the modern machinery manufacturing industry.

Metal casting types and modeling methods are customarily divided into:

① Ordinary sand casting, including wet sand, dry sand and chemically hardened sand.

② Special casting can be divided into special casting with natural mineral sand as the main molding material (such as sand casting, investment casting, mud casting, casting workshop shell casting, negative pressure casting, solid casting, ceramic casting, die casting etc.) etc.) and special casting with metal as the main casting material (such as metal mold casting, pressure casting, continuous casting, low pressure casting, centrifugal casting, etc.).

③ Casting treatment and inspection, casting treatment includes removal of foreign matter on the core and casting surface, removal of pouring risers, relief grinding of burrs and seams and other protrusions, as well as heat treatment, shaping, anti-rust treatment and pressure casting rough machining.
