What Is The Production Process Of Steel Casting?
Oct 13, 2023| The production process of precision castings has the characteristics of a wide range of materials, which can produce and process various precision steel castings, various aluminum alloys, ferroalloys and bowl alloys and other castings. Casting is also a feasible forming process for brittle alloy materials with poor plasticity, such as ordinary cast iron. Steel castings have a certain dimensional accuracy, and in general, the forming dimensions of ordinary forgings and welds are more accurate than ordinary forgings and welds. In addition, the production and processing cost of steel castings is low, the comprehensive economic performance is good, and the consumption and cost of energy materials are lower than other metal forming methods.
Precision casting has a high melting point, a high pouring temperature, and the interaction between molten steel and mold materials at high temperatures is prone to bond sand defects. Therefore, artificial quartz sand with high refractory degree should be used as the casting mold, and quartz powder or zirconia sand powder should be coated on the surface of the mold. In order to reduce the source of molten steel and improve the fluidity and strength of molten steel, most steel castings are cast with dry dies or quick-drying dies, such as sodium silicate sand molds hardened with CO2.
Colloidal silica precision casting accounts for 40%~80% of the total mass of general machinery and equipment, and the manufacturing cost only accounts for 25%~30% of the total cost of equipment. For brittle alloy materials with poor plasticity, such as ordinary cast iron, casting is a feasible forming process. Steel castings have a certain dimensional accuracy, and the forming dimensions of ordinary forgings and welds are more accurate than those of ordinary forgings and weldments.
